I’m not breaking it.
Thought this would be a keeper Rob, before I knew it was a 3.0. Keep us posted, going to be a good ride!
Tony.

Just to put the record straight, not because I’m having a moody but because I’m proud of what I do ;)

I do not consider myself a breaker. I would never break a decent car that could be restored within economic reason. I buy distressed cars and aim to restore them. Z3s are biting the dust at an alarming rate, often saveable or even in decent nick anyway because they are worth more in parts.

I’ve bought 9 cars in 3 years. All distressed. 3 did great broken as they were not viable to save. Of the other 6, 4 would have been broken by most people as there was much more money in it.

2 have already been restored and I use one in Swindon and one in Swansea pretty much daily for running round town.

The other 4 are all project cars and 3 of them need to be returned to the wild once rehabilitated :) I figure keeping 3 in the long term is enough for anyone :) The 3.0 will be joining the 2 I already run in my stable. The idea is 2 are being run at any one time while the third is in the workshop.

For those who follow my adventures this does mean my Dakar Yellow 2.2 will have to be sold on once I’ve done the clutch and got it pristine. Sad about that but can’t keep 4 cars long term :(

And no bl**dy way were we driving to Scotland and spending £500 on a transporter/fuel for anything other than a 3.0 Sport that is going to be kept and loved :)

We got back home around 11am. It gave us no problem getting the Z3 back off the transporter.

In fact the transporter and Z3 were both impeccably behaved all weekend. And the transporter was surprisingly civilised to drive and easy enough to both steer and operate the recovery equipment.

But you are going to struggle to save money with DIY against a recovery service. For starters we did 830 miles and burnt £160 of fuel!

Anyhow. Here’s a few pictures of us unloading.

My Mum and Dad put up with so much cr*p with the Z3s with no complaints. Here’s my Mum inspecting the latest arrival.

We set to work quickly and did a few things to make it look more presentable.

Swapped the wheels.

Cleaned (very quickly) the interior.

Rear lights and 3rd stop light back to waterproof. Some nice chrome side grills. Hopefully looking better already!

Some wally had put a new screen in back to front. Explaining the absence of the beading!

Genuinely chuffed to have landed a decent 3.0. And honoured to have been picked by the seller to complete the project he started for his late wife.

This breaking business is nothing but grief.

You sell a couple of good bits then left with a car that doesn’t work stuck on your drive

Roll on scrap man. Hurry up

Looks like you have the potential for a lovely Z3 there.
I like the interior as well. The 3.0 M Sport is a rare car, but still not expensive. When you look at what £6-8,000 will buy you, there’s not much to touch it.
Maybe a Boxster or l guess a Z4 if you like the newer version.

Glad it all went well for you Rob. It was well worth it for a 3.0, which will look awesome when finished.

You really don't need to defend yourself mate, its your business what you do with the Z's that you buy, ultimately they are just metal and plastic with a a bit of rubber thrown in, I hope this project turns out well for you, I am not envious in the slightest that you have got a 3.0 :).

Looks like the beginnings of a great project. Can’t wait to see how it develops and the updates.
