Not sure about E90 but the E46 calipers bolt straight on. I have a set of front calipers from a E46 330 on my Z3 2.8. Needs a minimum of 18” wheels though to fit over the discs and calipers.

I only run 17's so my biggest disc may well be 315, but that seems to be an M3 size and I am unsure if the caliper will bolt to my hub etc etc.

I am now running the E46 330 fronts with 18 inch wheels and there is still a good amount of clearance. May depend on the 17 inch wheel if they will fit or not.

Will try to get a picture later.

E90 M3 discs are 360mm
E46 M3 discs are 345mm
E36 M3 discs are 312mm

I've got a set of E36 M3 brake callipers that I'm going to fit to mine at some point, but they are not a direct bolt on as you will require the E36 M3 knuckle as well.

I would need at best the 312 disc, some sellers seem to quote 315 diameter, but I don't want to go as far as changing knuckles etc so looks like I go for 300mm disc...thank you all for your comments.

Here are my 330I front discs that are 325mm in diameter. Still a good amount of clearance on 18 inch wheels.

I have narrowed the rear so was able to install some 276x19mm vented discs and calipers from a 328i with 38mm pistons.

The 330i parts bolt right in and are very easy. I had to make some brackets for the rear calipers to mount and I could only do it since I had narrowed the rear. Sorry the car is dirty, its winter and it still gets driven as much as I can.

So your calipers etc are straight off an E46 330i ? Seems loads of room round them and my 17's are E36 M3 Evo ones so I assume capable of allowing decent sized discs.

If you google it the 330i discs and calipers bolt straight on.

I don’t see why you can’t fit these in 17” wheels, on my E30 I fitted 16” wheels over the 330 setup
