Well I wouldn't have bothered posting this, but none of the information about doing this that I could find on 'tinternet' was complete or accurate.
On my car, like many others I've seen with the brushed aluminium finish, the surface was cracking and lifting particularly on the centre console. There were scratches on other parts too which show up easily on this plain finish. I bought a set of decent silver carbon finish trim in better condition and which I felt would better hide minor scratches.
Trim around the light switch. Use trim tool to open the end piece, unscrew the torx screw in the side then pull the trim forward, use trim tool. Unplug the connection, it has a little hinged grey clip to release it.
Centre console. Lift the arm rest, pull up the gear gaiter surround, use trim tool to lift the end of the trim then pull up to unclip the centre console. Twist the gear gaiter trim round so that you can lift the console over the gear knob and trim. Unplug the connections, all have different securing clips just to be awkward!
Pull off the plastic cover plate below the radio, may need to use a trim tool along the top.
Radio. Two phillips screws hold it in. Take it out and rest it to one side, no need to disconnect.
Important !!! All the information I have seen tells you to 'unclip' the front from the ignition/key socket because there is a torx screw behind it to unscrew. DON'T try. I can only assume that this is correct for lhd cars. On rhd cars there is no screw there and the front cover of the socket does not unclip from the front . It is fitted to the key reader and secured by two screws which cannot be accessed without taking off most of the metal dash mounting 'plate'. There is no need to touch this socket to swap the dash trim.
Dash trim. There are two torx screws to remove above where the radio was and three in the glove box. Also unclip the end cover with a trim tool. Now you can pull off the dash trim and unclip the connections.
With the parts out it is necessary to unscrew the T10 screws to remove the parts from the old trim and fit them on the replacement. Except for the roof control panel which is just clipped in place. It's a pain to unclip, you need three hands and I used a knife to gently unclip. Easily clips straight in the replacement.
Door cards. On the driver's door there's a screw behind a plug where the door release handle is, two screws behind the door pocket plus one behind a plug near the end.
No need to unclip the tweeter cover at the top, just use a trim tool to unclip the door card around the bottom, don't lift up, open the window fully and use a trim tool along the top to pop off the card.
On the passenger side there are the same two T30 screws behind plugs, but the other two screws are behind the door pull trim which just clips off.
