So I guess I'm just a gullible bloke who believes all he reads on the internet so my car gets E5 fuel only , any views?

Z3 only has E5, family wagon has cheapest E10 because it doesn’t seem to make it run any better or return better consumption.

Some comments in the internet about E10 potentially causing corrosion in engines.

It's an old 5th Gear clip but still relevant. E5 will certainly give better performance (BHP) the higher cc capacity you go. The 170BHP GTi (Z3 2.2 equivalent) had a reasonable gain so the 2.8, 3.0 and ///M should gain more logically speaking. Only ever E5 in my 2.8.

The more powerful your car the greater the effect of E5.

Mine gets E5 too.

Tony.

Been down a YouTube rabbit hole. Some people are regularly testing the expensive petrol to check that it’s still ethanol free. Seems like Shell V-Power is most expensive for a reason.

Seems to be about added ethanol. Not sure if it’s an issue for new cars used regularly, but supposedly problematic for classics and cars stored for extended periods.

If you have a stock G29 then E10..no benefit to E5 save that most have a better level of detergents which in theory should reduce combustion chamber deposits…which probably is the least of your worries,..the B58 engine is designed to run on E85 so E10 isn’t going to trouble it..
