Hi everyone

I take real care of my cars, hand washing in the right way with multi stage finishing. When I bought the new Zed she was in fantastic condition, but after the usual treatment I felt the paint was a bit flat.

So, after being quoted silly money for a machine polish (you’d think it was brain surgery from the bull they speak) I decided to take the plunge and buy a Meguiars MT320.

Briefly, very easy and safe to use, and I quickly got over my fear that I might do irreparable damage. Small scratches and swirling have disappeared, or been reduced to very minor marks that I struggle to see. After claying using Meguiars quick detailer I used the Meguiars Compound, then their Polish, moving to their Ultimate Wax. The depth of the colour and finish is fantastic.

I’ve always used Autoglym and will continue to do so, but impressed with Meguiars. I’ve just given the car a quick clean after the dent removal guy has been, and I used the Autoglym Aqua Wax. It went on no problem, so obviously no issues working on the Meguiars wax.

Looks a good job you have done. I would recommend using a quality wax to keep it well protected. I use Swissvax Sheild around £55 for a 50ml pot but lasts ages and also helps protect the paint. The normal bottle wax's have hardly any Carnauba in them

Yes, thanks, you do get what you pay for.

I do also use Autoglym UHD Wax. I also find that Autoglym EGP delivers great protection, with SRP. I re-coat the protection every couple of weeks, so the Meguiars Ultimate is useful, as it is thin film and flexible / quick to use.

Interesting, I too have been looking at them but haven't bought one because I was unsure whether I would make swirls worse or damage
the the paint which really good, very shiny but a few swirls.
But having read your experience I may be worrying needlesslly.

The machine comes with 3 different pads, so you can start with the softest and see how you go. I did use the Meguiars products and for what you describe the polish might be enough, followed by a wax of your choice.

Because of the random action you won’t damage your paintwork. Just follow the simple instructions. Not essential, but might be a good idea to mask off the soft top and trim, in case of splatter. I got distracted by a neighbour and lifted off before the machine had stopped moving, so some minor splatter.

When my Abarth was delivered I didn’t spot that bird lime had etched on the boot, presumably from when it was sat on the docks awaiting shipping. No amount of work by hand would shift it, and I’d been meaning to take it in for correction. Now sorted with the machine in 20 seconds / 4 passes. I’ve got a couple of scratches on my newish X5 and I’m confident they will disappear.

The pads are robust and wash well by hand under running water.

Just done it....and thats only that we have a small run tomorrow and thought It would look better as metallic silver and not a grey matt finish.

Can not believe you only use washing up liquid. At least it is fully degreased

What you can’t see is the dinner plates in the bottom of the bucket, no point wasting money.

that's got to be a wind up
you would get less scratches by soaping the car with a brick, which would also have to be covered in grinding paste..
