Giving my 2002 Z3 3L a clean and a polish ready for a tour of Exmore this Sunday then on show with 300 others in Lynmouth I find that drivers seat will not move when switch is operated it just makes a click as if stuck. any suggestions as to what is wrong and how to correct. Thanks Geoff

Maybe a coing or something jammed in the Mechanism, my 2.8 had a 50p under the seat that was bent and twisted from being stuck somewhere

Is it stuck in one of the extreme positions iE fully at the top or fully at the bottom as the nut on the end of the thread digs in to the ally and gets stuck.

You will have to remove the silver mechanism from that moves the seat up an down from one end and turn it manually to get it unstuck, while you are at it clean and lubricate the screw mechanism

Yeah the motor drives a worm drive and it jams at one of its extremes
Is this a seat out job or will it be possible to access it without doing that ? As raining and things are a bit tight in garage with my other Z that is up for sale. Geoff

It's definitely a seat out job in my opinion but if you are a contorsionist and have someone holding the seat tilted towards the front after un bolting it but while it is still inside the car I think you might be able to do it

Tried to look under seat but no chance, so still on knees I switched on ignition operated seat switch backwards and forwards a few times then tried the up and down and after a few tries it worked. It was jammed in the very highest position
Thanks for the pointers chaps Geoff
