One job always seems to lead to another!
Removed driver's seat last week to take it for long awaited bolster and leather repair.
Picked seat up today and well pleased as trimmer had done a fantastic job.
Refitted seat - anticipated air bag light problem did not materialise.
Moved seat back and forward - no problem.
Tried to lower seat - nothing! Aaargh!
Seat back out again - electrics checked - all ok.
Tried raise/lower- motor and its' output shaft tries to turn but gear mechanism twists on mounting and does not move.
I had raised seat to full height when removing, so it is in a range it's not been in for many years. Can't identify a means of manually moving it - as with forward/backward drive.
Any suggestions before I start stripping mechanism?
Good news is I can only drive with top down - can't close roof with me in the seat!

The drive nut has got stuck at the end of the worm gear. An easy fix.

-Identify the worm gear, it an aluminium square shape.
- Undo the bolt and one end and give it a twist to move the drive nut off the end of the worm.

Thanks Murray - I'll have a go tomorrow. Took this pic earlier - can see what you mean.

@Murray - sorted. Removed top bolt and twisted assembly then ran motor up and down a few times. Had to manually move cross-rod with grips to get bolt alignment correct.
:thankyou:

@jonco
May be worth doing a HOW TO thread on this, it seems a lot of new Z owners have this happen to them (I did) when they remove their seats or start to play with the seat adjustments especially on the passenger side....just a thought........ would make the solution easy to find.

Where did you get the bolster done?
I am looking for a recommendation for the same. I'm on the Devon and Cornwall border.

Unfortunately, a little far for you but would highly recommend for anybody who is closer. Was supposed to be done earlier but lockdown delayed it.
