I'll be heading for Dorset in the Z tomorrow morning for a week's relaxation with (hopefully) some top down cruising. The rest of the family and the dog are coming too but most of them will have to slum it in the Freelander!! I'll be on the look out for you southern lot to wave at!!

I'm heading up country to Wolves tonight for a weekend in the Black Country. Leaving the house at the mercy of our two sons and their girlfriends.
Hopefully I'll get some top down driving in too.

Hope you have a good time in Dorset @Gail There's a nice real ale pub in Lyme Regis called "The Volunteer". It's on the main road, just down the hill from the car park

Thanks. @Jack Ratt we're going to the Swanage end but will look out for the pub if we venture across there.

I hope your house survives intact. :)

Careful @Gail Your heading through my area.. hahaha.. I will be looking out for a grey flash of the Z4.. Well actually if you use the M3 and A31.. I will have plenty of time.. lol.. Its been down to 40 MPH and slower most of the afternoon. If you are going to Swanage..you must be going to the Purbeck Festival .. Have fun and enjoy yourselves.. If you get a chance head to Kimmeridge Bay.. its private and you have to pay for parking, but its a stunning place.

Thanks for the tips @pgunter We didn't know the festival was on and it's not really our sort of thing. We're staying in a cottage near Worth Matravers and hoping for some sunshine.

OK, You will get caught at the bottom of the A34 and onto the M3.. You will then crawl through the New Forest on the A31. You might get lucky, but as its a bank holiday weekend you are more than likely to get caught up. The attached is a get around the bottle neck route ok.

It avoids the main issues of this area.. Just don't share it out too much.. Can't be having all you trouble makers on my decent back roads.

You have to go to the Square & Compass, a little pub not far from Swanage. Beutiful views. And try to find Muddlecome:D

The Kings Arms Stoborough is a great eatery, and if you are near Wareham on Saturday pop down to the Swanage & Wareham rugby club.

We're of to the Isle of Wight, slumming in the Jag, hope we all get some good weather.

Pleasure. Hope you all have a great time and the weather improves. Just don't tell everybody about the shortcuts that avoid the traffic sat nav lemmings. Lol..

This was a little gem my old man knew about on our drive back to Salisbury from the Mr. PGunter's New Forest meet last May.
Its on a dead end road, so not many non locals know about it, even though we did meet a couple of Yanks that had been given directions.
We only stopped for a couple of pints but the food looked fantastic.
The Bad ///Boy would like it there to. only 7.50 quid for a pork ring..........:D

The Royal Oak at Fritham is one of the New Forest's smallest pubs. Accessible from Stoney Cross, the pub is close to a very popular walk and way-marked cycle tracks, and makes an ideal lunch stop. The large garden makes an ideal place for a pint.

@hard top the forest has a few great places tucked out of the way of the 'tourist' trade. Much nicer too.
