At Sainsburys this morning, lots of empty parking and I parked with nobody either side sat waiting for my wife. A woman drove through the car park past whole rows of empty spaces then came round behind the row I was on and pulled in between me and another car. A tight fit, it took her ages to squeeze out of her car. Why? What made her think that it would be better to park there than all the vast empty space? No wonder we get doors dented.

Look how narrow the space is and that's not a big car. A couple of 4x4's along with some Chelsea tractors and you don't stand a chance.

Supermarkets at fault for making spaces too small, sheer greed.

Which is why I always park away from other cars. My point is that she could have parked anywhere around the car park without being next to a car at all! As you can see from the photos there is nothing parked behind us, but she drove past all that space into a narrow gap. Idiotic! :(

No accounting for Morons Ken.

Tony.

i have had exactly the same happen to me, I always park the furthest away from the supermarket as it is normally empty. One evening I was walking back to my car, no other cars in sight just mine that side of the car park, and a bloke drives in and parks 1 ft away from my drivers door, opens his door and puts a crease in my door. I was fuming until I saw he was an older chap with limited mobility so ended up helping him out of his car whist inside I was screaming "why would you do that". I need to find a dent remover as it brings all the anger back every time I see my door. I cannot comprehend the logic. I need a beer now to calm down:mad:

Send him the bill, it's wilful damage.

I would’ve probably done the same as you Rob, but, I would’ve asked why he had to park there in the first place.

Tony.

Hi Tony, yes I really could not understand it, honestly the car park was completely empty except my car and he parked right up next to me. I also could not understand why he parked so far away from the supermarket as he said he was struggling with mobility and he clearly was. Oh well I think I will design a quick inflating rubber ring to go around the car:D

My dad told me this story when I was a kid.

He worked in an office which overlooked the car park for Coventry railway station, he was on the phone and looking out of the window and watched as a car entered the car park, there were only two cars parked in the car park one on either side, the car hit one then parked next to the other one😳

There seems to be a hurdling instinct with som people.

I think it is that our cars take up less space in a bay so someone in a "shopping trolley" or like thinks there is more room for them by parking next to us and entering our space also.

There's actually a simple answer to this its Sheep syndrome. 🐑 🐑🐑🐑🐑🐑
I see it at work just about every day practically all our depots have designated parking spaces for customers and what happens is one person comes along dumps their car in some stupid place in the middle of the carpark and like sheep the next 3 or 4 people to come in like sheep end up doing the same thing :facepalm::banghead:

Well I just thought that I would have a look and see what the World Wide Web came up with regarding people parking their cars etc :-

Are other car owners socially oriented?
It is plausible that people tend to park next to other people’s cars because they like the idea of social cohesion in public, or they might associate social cohesion with safety. They might think that parking next to another car reduces their car’s chances of being broken into or crashed against. It might explain why people tend to sit next to other people in parks, trains, and places where there is ample space.

Oh well .... 🤷‍♂️

Like I said, no accounting for Morons ................................

We had the same thing happen at Orlando Int. when we were waiting for our flight home. We sat at one end of a row of seats, next to each other. There were at least 6 empty seat left on the row and a woman came and sat right next to Shirl, didn't even leave one seat between. There were loads of free seats but she did that. Social distancing? FFS.

Tony.

It's only antisocial people who don't like other cars parking near them, maybe your a natural magnet Victor to others.=))=))=))=)) Next time.
Wind your window down and say "hello, I parked here cos Ive just been diagnosed a Sarrs carrier but you obviously don't mind being near me, or did you miss the sign on the front of my car."

I go shopping at Tesco around 06.30 to try and avoid the idiots, both outside and inside the store. I've had my daily driver VW Up nearly 5 years ago and it's survived without a mark. Until the Saturday before last. About 20 cars in the car park. As always I stayed well away from any of them. Imagine my delight when I came out of the store to discover a nice little dink on the wheelarch. Maybe Citroen were spot on when they did the rubber-clad C4 Cactus.....
