I've not been on here much lately, had a busy few weeks!
Anyway the cars been stood for 3 weeks since driving to London and back.
Booked it in for a winter check with bmw and got my free M power umbrella haha.
This morning when I opened the door I've got lots of water on the drivers side seat and down the side, also inside windscreen was soaking.
I think roof and windscreen rubbers are on their way out, urgh.
I've been waiting for dry weather to dry the soft top so I can put it down and put the hardtop on! No luck!
I need to invest in a good all weather cover I thinks..

Anyway health check was mostly good, rear pads are gone, which is weird cos the fella who put new tyres on, said he fitted rear pads... C***.

Also need new discs all round.

All in all an expensive winter!

Hi mate, wondered where you'd got to. Not a bad price on the Brembo... A decent cover is definitely a good idea. There was a thread on winter covers a week or two ago I think.

Sorry to hear of the leak.

Whenever I've had his issues it has been the area at the A pillar - that triangle area where the roof meets the screen with the bung.
Some rubber tube cut to shape and black silicone sealant is your friend.
It could also be the seals along the windows not being close enough but this A pillar leak is decieving as the water travels before fallin on the seat.

To get the car dry I placed a small fan heater carefully inside the car and left the doors open a crack (with a half cover over it). This dried it out nicely.

Haha glad my absence hasn't gone unnoticed.
Just debating on fitting them myself or getting it in a garage as time isn't my friend at the minute!

Oh and to add you will still get leaks with a hardtop if the seals don't meet up. I actually had more leaks with the hardtop than the soft too until the seals were sorted!

To be honest I notice the seals were going last time the hardtop was on as was getting some wind noise.

Stormforce ordered plus a cheap thing to cover that one ha, double protection since it can't be garaged

Did you take the window glass out when you did your door actuator? The sidelight with the window track has to be tensioned when it goes back otherwise it will cause a leak.

Sorry for intruding but I'm going to be fixing that very leak today, I've tried adjusting the tension in the roof latches but that made no difference, also I've tried fitting a little rubber pad on the seal that meets the a pillar but the leak continues.

Also tried adding some sealant on the bung but it still leaks!

There isn't a gap between the apillar and the soft top.

But my seat and kick plate always get wet. Also when washing the car, the doors are shut but the kick plate is always wet.

That's the same leak I've fixed. Strange you still have it and so heavy still.
It may need two layers of rubber tube as the gap may be larger than what one can fill.

Is the little hole clear that let's water go down into the seal - if not it may have nowhere to go and over come the seal.

I don't understand how the system works.

a-pillar seal 09.jpg

I put my rubber padding there. ^

a-pillar seal 03.jpg

and previously I've put some sealant on the bung (now removed) why do people put sealant there? Because from factory it seems that there is a tiny gap around the bung? Surely blocking that off can't be good?

I've cleaned the area in which the bung sits.

Also the padding that I've added as well as the adjustment of the roof latch provides so much pressure that it actually takes out the interior light (turns it off) when I close the latch.

My A pillars were bad when I bought the car and did the repair and it has held well. The problem I have now is where the two rubbers meet at the tops of the side windows. I've put the inner tube patches on either edge but still it drips during heavy rain.

I've had a new hood put on and now have leaks that weren't there before. I think my glass is leaving gaps as I also have a lot of wind wistle that was'nt there before. I'm worried that my HT will suffer if I adjust the glass. It also never leaked before. What do you think?? JIM

@oldcarman I too have had a new roof fitted earlier this year and since then the window doesn't sit properly.

Mind you the leak in my project zed is a lot lot worse than it is in my daily zed.
