You probably won't recall but in November I had a problem. Started her up to come home and the engine didn't catch so I immediately re started and the rev counter didn't work. Drove home and neither did the speedometer nor dashboard lights.
As I've been busy it wasn't until just now when I've had time to read up on fuses and get a fistfull in, to have a crack at fixing things.
My garage is small so I fired her up and b*gger me evey thing now works , so either the Z is playing tricks or German witchcraft has been going on.
I just don't understand electronic stuff.

I think Santa brought you the gift a little late! =))
But it's so nice!

I'm sure other people have suffered the same experiences Dave.

One of life's little mysteries mate.

Tony.

It can happen with a little moisture on the dash pod connections glad it resolved its self

I had something similar with mine a while back, I think the lights for the speedo etc stopped working but then the next time I went to it, all ok.
Never happened since :).

Something similar used to happen to my e36, sometimes worked and sometimes didn't, wound up having to buy a replacement instrument panel. That cured it. Reckon there was one or more of them dodgy soldered joints in there somewhere.

Yep, I had the same issue with my last Z, every now and again the pod would just stop working, It didn't really bother me as I rarely stick to the speed limits whilst out in the Z :D
Seriously though, a reset would normally sort it

Intermittent electrical gremlins can sometimes be caused by damp conditions. Bit of condensation on the connectors or circuit boards can cause unusual things.

Yeah anything electronic can crash these days, we're all used to switching Sky boxes off at the wall, our cars are just the same!
