Does anyone on here play an instrument?

When I was at school my favourite instrument was the dinner bell

I've had an acoustic guitar (an Eco Ranger) since I was about 20 (shhh, that's 49 years ago), but I never learned more than a few simple chords. My main musical ability is to sing, and I would sing Tom Paxton songs. I liked the lyrics and the chords were easy. Now I sing and "act" in a local operatic group and love being on stage with the company. I'm far too old to be given a lead role, but am content to be at the back adding my tenor to the mix. Recently we have performed "Oklahoma", "White Christmas", "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels", and this year we are doing "Top Hat". I have even been trying my hand (?feet?) at simple tap dancing! How's that for an old fart?

Both my boys played B-flat Baritone horn in brass bands at university, but neither play those instruments now. My older boy messes around with electric guitars when he's got time from work and family, and the younger one plays a bit of piano and sings (much better than me) in an operatic group near where he lives. He recently played Fagin in "Oliver". Great kids. Oh, and my wife plays piano and has taken up lessons again in her sixties.

As our choir director says, "Music is life, that's why our hearts have beats".

You could treat yourself to an electronic kit and some headphones to keep your chops up!

:drinks:

Bonzo.... (after the great man himself!)

I would consider an electronic kit but space is a bit tight in my flat - I may have to see if I can do a bit of re-arranging of furniture! Although decent kits are pretty expensive, I'd probably keep an eye on the second hand market.

And yep I am a fan of Bonzo, definitely one of the greats! I am also a fan of Cozy Powell, Neil Peart, Derek Roddy and Chris Adler - quite a mix of styles there!
