Believe it or not I had the same problem last week, going down the dual carriage way, an awful noise began, and would not go away no matter how I tried accelerated decelerated but the noise was constant sounded like the exhaust had fallen off,I was about to pull up and switched the heater fan off, noise disappeared, it was an air vent making all the noise thought my car was about to blow up.
the first time I heard it was the first time I had the roof off, and had the heaters blowing on full on the highest temp. Did the noise change with the accelerator? So if you accelerated harder the noise increased?

No it stayed the same Connor, like a roaring noise.
Hmm not the same issue then I don't think, mine increases. I'll just have to wait til Thursday. What's throwing me off is the fact it's not constant. I could go to the car now and It'll be fine at first, then it'll get bad again. Could be something to do with the crack (if it is that) expanding when the car is hot

Instead of being down about the possible cracked manifold I've bought myself/the car a cruise controls switch. So when it's all better I can get that fitted and my right foot can chill out on those long motorway cruises. Paid £44 from USA.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I am really pleased with my addition of cruise control, The stalk is in a slightly awkward place, Flashing Hi Beams by mistake, but you soon get used to it and its position.

Well that'll definitely be happening with me then, I've read your install thread and it's what made me buy it. Seems really easy, just need to borrow my brothers dremel to cut the section out.

I will be totally gobsmacked if it is a crack in the exhaust manifold, Its something simple Connor, If it was a crack you would hear it while the car was stationary, I take it it only does it when the car is moving? If that is the case I would be looking for something like an air intake or outlet or something loose vibrating as air passes over or through it. or a loose heat shield.

It does make the noise when I'm stationary, but as I said if I was to go out to the car and start it now, it'll be fine for about 10 minutes I'd say, and it'll start being loud

Like the starter motor, can you record it and put it on YouTube?

The problem has been found.
The downpipe has been repaired using the exhaust putty, which is partially failing. New gaskets are being fitted this afternoon but a new downpipe is on the cards for the future.

I'm not going to have a big bill today thankfully but it will need doing.

Quarry motors in Sheffield have again been excellent, they have rung me multiple times to keep me in the loop and cant recommend enough!

Glad you've found the problem Connor, not as bad as you first thought. Anyway now you've got that sorted get on and enjoy the car.

I know I'm happy. Just picked it up and looking forward to the weekend now!

After further inspection they have said that I shouldn't have any more problems, but going to save up i case I do need a new pipe.

Connor,
