You will struggle for room to work without jacking the car up Jesper.
If you do jack it up you should place stands under the car to support the weight of the car before going underneath.

As Tony says it is a struggle on the flat but it can be done.

Maybe I'll try. Don't have Jack stands.
Was thinking of driving up on some planks.

I jacked up passenger side on the jacking point and then wedged brick/wood combo under the chassis. Also had Mrs T supervising in case it went tits up and flattened me

Depending on the size of yourself maybe raising just one side onto plank onto a large block of wood would do. Always raise the opposite side to where the drain plug is located though to make sure you get a good drain. Above all work safely.:)

Whilst everyone would probably agree draining via the drain plug is always best as the oil will have a good flow rate to get rid of any debris in the sump not everyone has the capability of getting under the car to access the drain plug. For those with that situation a pump might be the answer. One on ebay would do the job via the dipstick tube.

I have a similar pump which I have used in the past on vehicles other than the Z with good results and less mess.

Yep, I have one as well and alternate my oil changes, using the vacuum pump once then draining via the drain plug next time. ;)
