So - Two days of ownership. :):):):):):):):)
Little more to be said other than - it's a pussy cat and an animal.
Love the Auto box - first I've owned. Hardly felt the need to use the flappy paddles other than to try them.

Just one minor thing and I need to ask. Hurrying into, or, more accurately, out of bends above 60 it seems to get easily unsettled. The previous owner had the tyres only at 29psi. I'm hoping its that. Just a little un-eveness makes the car feel jittery and the steering goes light pulling either side where its supposed to be going. It doesn't feel quite as planted as @Gails car. Slower than that, it feels absolutely planted as you'd expect.
Can't really explain it - I get a similar feeling when the FL tyres get down to below 4mm. Just floaty and needing lots of input to keep it keep the strong pointing on the right line.

I'll increase the tyre pressures over the weekend and see if that improves things. In a straight line it needs no input to keep it straight and is just plain stunningly quick with never ending power.
If not tyre pressures than I suspect its potentially bushes or worse. Any thoughts anyone?

The wheels and non-RFTs do give a far more subtle ride though.
Have been getting 29.1 mpg too. Thats over 130 miles over a mixture winding country roads, fast dual carriageways and town driving.

:):coolsteer)

I haven't checked my MPG on my 3.0 yet Ian but it is definitely using much less fuel than my 2.0 Z3 . The 3 needed filling every Monday or it took more than usuall amount but the 4 is 1 1/2 to 2 weeks between fill ups. I do on average 150 miles a week to work and back plus any other running around. I will do a necked to necked fill on the trip and see what it's doing when I get back to work.:)

It's interesting but ultimately futile doing this comparison - but, I've doing about 270 miles a week just for work in the landy - refilled every 8 days almost like clockwork. On a run up to Yorkshire or down to Winchester it'll be 530 miles from a tank with a distance of 600 miles showing on the mileage covered and distance still in the tank. Managed to get 72l into a 70l tank a few weeks ago - had done 550 miles done the computer was still showing 30 miles available too. How does that work? I'll take 35-36 mpg on average- much better than most.

I'm expecting to get less from the Z4- going to be just too much temptation to use the loud pedal. Gail gets 400 miles between refills tops. It might be 440-450 if there's a long run. Think i'll get 350 to 370 miles max.

Thanks for that Ian, I'll keep you posted. I appreciate your comment re. the loud pedal, it's very hard to resist, I found a similar thing in this 3.7 Mustang we've had for the last week although I haven't driven it too much the price of petrol here isn't as restrictive. :)

I'll have some pictures after I get home. I'm having problems getting full size pictures to email from my phone (a Samsung Galaxy) to my iPad for some reason. I didn't have this issue earlier in the year.

Do you get a DSC light when the car unsettles? or is it just a light feeling?

Be interesting to know if it does this out of both left and right hand corners, it could be just the weight transfer of the car?

If there was any damp at all that would explain it, I was thinking tired rear shock hence the question does it happen in both directions.

tyres only at 29psi.
That's really low... Depending on the tyre sizes I think they should be something like 34/36 on the back and 32/34 on the fronts - but don't quote me on that!

Spent a few hours washing and waxing the beast today (I need a name I guess). I think the seller did himself out of a few quid. The seats and rollover hoops were a teeny bit grubby, especially the drivers seat. Some leather cleaner and elbow grease has brought them up brilliantly - just a couple of minor scuffs and creases you'd expect in a used car.

After doing that I went to put some air in the tyres. Had just about completed the off-side front when the bit that clips onto the tyre's valve decided to part company with the rest of the pump - not a cheap pump either!

So, there I am with one front tyre at 29psi and the other at 34psi :(

What to do next - I'm not one for paying at garages to use their air!
Thankfully, Pete over the road had just the device - he has a compressor (not one of the poxy ones that plug in the cigarette lighter socket but one that does up to 150psi!).
Job done in no time and no effort. 33 psi front and 36psi rear.

A quick drive out as the sun was beginning to drop and, eh-presto, all now seems well. The next few days will tell.
