Just Bought some spare 108's on the forum, so about to start a DIY refurb on my old 108;s, Guy close to me will strip the old paint off the wheels for me so they are ready to paint with no further prep required for £100+VAT.

Any one done this job, any advice? Prep, What Paint to Use? Not a fan of the powder coating process, so intend to paint them myself.

Thanks

Jim

Go to an automotive paint supplier and buy decent rattle cans from them if you are painting yourself.

Make sure you mask the lip where the bolts go

spend most of the time on prep

or

just get them painted / coated professionally and just assemble yourself

As I understand the process, the paint will be "baked" on by a paint shop. By the time you have paid £120 for stripping, bought the undercoat and top coat there may be a cost saving of around £100 or so. Appreciate you may enjoy the work and get satisfaction from doing the job yourself, if so great stuff, but I would personally go the professional route for longevity.
