Attempting to get three seat motors working, is there a How To anywhere on how to get at the brushes? Given the state of the rest of the assembly I expect the comm/armature is filthy.
Cheers
Iain
I have done this and repaired 2 motors. ( just needed to clean the commutator)
I eased out the 4 tangs at the plug end and pulled out the motor. Its a bit of a game getting the brushes back after cleaning it all but its fairly straight forward. The tangs look solid but just ease them out with a thin screwdriver.
Just make sure that you make a note of where everything goes as it comes apart.
After its reassembled, just tap the tangs back in to hold it all together.
Cheers, it was the brush end wouldn't come off of the spindle, I just wasn't using enough brute force. I think the car these came off had a soaking at one time, lots of corrosion in the motors, cleaning up nicely now though.
If anyone has removed a Z3 seat motor, can they confirm the Torx bolt / screw size which hold them to the seat frame. Most of my motors appear inexplicably, to be secured with just one remaining!
As the seats are out, prior to reinstallation is there any merit in applying a lubricant to off set any future movement faults and if so, any particular product and area to apply it to?
