now my son has a very nice z4 coupe and is getting itchy feet and is thinking of changing his car , now do I take it off his hands and sell my z3 or not. My z3 is lovely with only 53k miles the coupe has 100k but looks very well. I just don't know. The hatchback would be handy with the dogs.

Goodbye Mrs Slams car then! Good job i'm not a marriage guidance councillor!

Store the 2.8 with those miles its more of an asset then the Z4

Yes but mrs slam has a tt roadster also so a bit excessive to have 3 two seaters plus not enough room on the drive
Buy a house with a bigger drive or enlarge your existing one :whistle::thumbsup:

I know a house with a big garage . . . . . . . . . . ;)=))

Tony.

We did this and can get 6 cars and the caravan on just but takes some shuffling to get any out apart from the last one on:)

The Z4 Coupe will be a 3.0si engine I guess, so it is no slouch. Value-wise, unless it is pristine it's unlikely to get more that £7-8k.
It seems that good Z3 2.8s are heading north in value. Many up for £6-9k.

It's a hard choice. So, the real decision is, do you keep the opportunity for open-top motoring or do you pander to the dogs?
No contest. The dogs walk

Hi Slam, putting the dogs aside I would go for the coupe as you already know the car and there’s absolutely no comparison as the two cars are worlds apart. You must already have a hankling for the coupe and have probably driven it so why ask the rest of us, your son I reackon will know if he lets it go he’ll miss it so there’s no real need for anyone else’s opinion. Ask the dogs not the wife or us. Yes I’m biased but did own my Z3 2.8 for 11yrs and yes I did miss it, but the coupe will have to extracted from your system and the only way is to own it. As for what your Z3 may or not be worth is purely subjective and as long as you don’t pay too far over the odds for the coupe you shouldn’t loose much if you decide to let it go sooner rather than later. I love driving the coupe to the point that I’m using much more fuel on a monthly bases than I ever did with the Z3. I’m retired and it’s making a hole in my savings but putting an even bigger smile on my face. Go for the coupe before someone else gets to it first then let me know if I’m wrong.

Got to agree with everything you say. But, it’s the lack of top down driving. I’d miss that too much.
I suspect we’re not helping the decision by pulling in completely opposite directions

I agree, I went toi work yesterday in my 2.8, weather was poor so I had the roof up and to be honest I felt like I could have been driving anything, the thrill for me is with the roof down,

If there is any doubt there is no doubt, keep it. The Coupé is a great car but it has a roof

Well Slam your a lucky Z owner, you have the best of both something a lot of us can only bream of.
Happy motoring and be sure to let me know just how much you enjoy having the coupe along side the Z3 roaster.

Roy.:)
There is a down side ! I now have to clear my garage to put the z3 in and it's got 20yrs worth of that's to good to through away in it.
