Dilemma

I'd go for the mechanical's but you know what will happen Sean, if you don't buy the splitter you will spend the next few months wishing you had, that's what the bling does to us:( ... its want over need=))

Buy the splitter while you've got funds then just make out it needs a service because it's running rough after. That's how I get things past the Mrs :D

What is the purpose of a splitter? Is it just a cosmetic add on? Or was it originally designed for aerodynamic reasons on the track? Will it mess with sleeping policeman?

I would say mechanics first and tarty bits later myself.

prefer original cars over custom so wouldn't do add on's don't think they add to the car at all, I would spend it detailing the car getting it pristine if its needs , but its your car :)
You see thats where we all differ, spending money on detailing to me is a waste, I clean my car thoroughly and its pristine most of the time. I'm still not sure what this detailing thing is, I believe its an Americanism like seasons instead of series, oh and its a bit late to keep original =))

Well that's because you can just respary the whole car when it's a bit grubby!
The rest of us have to faff about with clay, wax, lube, glazes, sealants, RO Tary's, dual actions, dragon breath, pads, clothes, mitts, towels made of exotic llama wool and all sorts of other potions and lotions!
Actually makes a respary seem easier!

Back to topic - you know you need a lip. If you worried about clearance you can fashion one is similar thickness from some plastic piping you have lying about and fix it temporality and see if you clear your favorite speed bumps before buying the actual thing.

Alternatively you can get a flexible one like I have. I feel the need to post yet another pic ;)

I can confirm it's tough and flexible.
More of a faff to fit than a Reiger, best with bumper off but I don't need to tell you how easy that is on these cars!

I would spend it on service parts as I'm not a fan of the rieger front lip

But watch out for clearance issues :nailbiting:

See it in the flesh mate at Tony's do, clearance is a concern as I am on Eibach pro kit, I scraped the bottom of the front bumper in Aldi a couple of weeks ago, had I had the lip on it would have been toast, I now reverse into parking spaces with a curb.

Yes you have to watch when pulling up to kerbs or it will catch, I have a front camera fitted in the grille now so I know exactly how far I am away from the kerb. I was lowered on Eibach's as well and didn't find it too much of a problem over speed humps etc if you take them steadily. Its now even lower and I do have to be careful but it still clears most things without a problem.

after 120 mph the front of the car can become light...a splitter will stop this happening ...splitter for me...the car will be in better shape if its not stuck in the central reservation haha
ACS for me

What splitters are those on the silver, ACS ?? if so they are more expensive then an OEM M3 front bumper, I do like them but would rather fit the M bumper

Yes but if you go M bumper you need the ACS splitters for those, don't ask the price!

How much we talking for a set now @Dino D
Last I saw around £300 unpainted, not sure if you get new ones still.

Seen a guy making some very replicas on Bimmerforums.com
I think a guy in the U.K. Made some reps too.

Your car is looking great!
