3. Buy an eco-friendly car registered before 1st April 2017.
By the old road tax laws, vehicles that emitted less than 99g/km of CO2 were exempt from VED. The new rules have thrown this aside and now state that only zero-emission cars are exempt. But, if you look around, you might well be able to pick up any number of vehicles that were under 99g/km and registered before the new tax rules came into play. Worth a look, we think. This method is probably the easiest way to get your hands on a ‘normal’ car and avoid paying road tax.
