Hello all I would like to take out some of the dents in the doors of my Z3.
So I contacted a dentmaster type person who did a great job of a front bonnet dent but explained that he could not do the doors as could not get to the dents “too much in way” as doors small in height and with window mechanisms and crash barriers get could not reach.
The doors have a few dents in various places but he could not reach any of them - he was trying to slide a metal sheet down between the window glass and the door ?
I just wanted to know if anyone has had the same issue with dent removal?
Has anyone had success with getting someone to carry out this work?
I am in Lichfield area North Sutton Coldfield
If anyone knows anyone he can then give me a shout please

I had ripples removed in the door down the front edge under the quarter glass with no issues.
The dent in pic 1 looks above the crash bar im not sure on the second one but if it is the crash bar causing the issues there is no space to get behind it i don't think so this may be the issue.:(

It's quite possibly true with the door cards in place. But removed it can be done.

I was asked to remove the door cards - though they were already off. That said I had a Seat Alhambra door done once without the need to remove.

Agree with above, I had some done many moons ago and door panels had to come off for access behind crash bars.

Ok many thanks maybe I need to ask someone else to call and get the door panels off first
The door cards - which I think ppl are meaning - and quite easy to remove. Ask @Paul Rice for advice.

I had a number of small dents removed a few years ago from both doors without any issues. No door card removal was required.

Think a lot depends on the operative and their ability. I had some minor dents done on my Z4. The guy who came did a couple of the dents but the one that bothered me the most he said he couldn't do. I explained if i knew that i wouldn't have had the others done as they were only slight. Amazingly after he persevered he managed to do to an acceptable standard. Did seem he either lacked confidence or couldn't be bothered. Since then had both sides fully painted so all nice and smooth now.

I had dents on my passenger door caused by a supermarket trolly I think, was there when I bought the car. One day when i was at the body shop where I have work done other than bodywork/spraying they had asked a dent specialist to come in to remove lots of dents on a car which was in to have a big dent sorted which the boys did them selfs. While the chap was working and I was waiting I got chatting and mentioned my dents to which he said wait till I have finished and I ill have a look. He looked said he could do it straight away, slid a flat metal bar down side of window and fixed various suckers on outside of door and after about 10 mins he just gave the dented area a few taps with a hammer, job done, I asked how much and he said FREE door dents are easy. o i would say possibly your chap was not experianced enough or did not have enough tools.
