Defensive Parking.

Just been into Gainsborough and needed Marshals Yard to go to Timpsons and Boyes. So I parked in the rear corner of Lidl's carpark.

As far as possible from the building. But still when I returned some moron had dumped a trolley almost against my car.

Tony, I feel your pain! I choose where and what time of day I and no matter how empty a car park is, some idiot will always park next to my car!!! I stopped going to certain places because of this and choose very careful where I park - I will park in a residential area and walk to where I need to go. People just don’t care.

I just can't park in any normal bay with a risk of someone parking too close next to me. I go to all sorts of bizarre lengths. More often than not I'll park slightly hanging over the next bay in the furthest corner of the car park where no one could remotely be upset at me using 2 bays. And I'll also check the sign to make sure it says you must park in marked bays rather than you must park in a marked bay. Sounds like a good defence if I get a ticket. A single door ding could potentially be £500 once adjacent panels are blow in.

I see clowns in supermarkets way too often just open the door straight onto another car and just carry on like the other car is their own personal bump stop.

well I carefully placed my trolley at the far end of the car park where it wouldn't get damaged, and some flash git in a white BMW parked up close to it,

I park over two bays right in the middle. If I am stopped - not been yet - I will just tell whomever: are you going to pick up the repair bill? I always park far enough away from a supermarket door that my parking shouldn’t be an issue but close enough so it’s not too quiet to invite unwanted attention. I always go shopping very late so the car park is almost empty and when shopping in towns, I always park in residential roads and walk in.
