The N20 E89 came in three 'flavours' from the factory.....base was the 18i (156bhp and gutless), the 20i (181bhp and OK) and the 28i (245bhp and good). The N20 was designed to be 245bhp, but what with modern marketing, BMW decided to 'down tune' the maps for the 18i and 20i. They are all identical engines apart from the ECU mapping.
Most generic 'remaps' for the N20 will provide around 280bhp and 350nm (on 99 ron), so around 260-270bhp on 95 RON.
I had our first 18i (it was gutless as standard) remapped. For £300 it made it a different car. It went like a stabbed rat in all gears and at all revs. Mine was done in 2021. I know who owns the car now and it has had no issues to date.
