Well this story certainly fits in the General darn Section.
One of my mates had put his green wheelie bin out for collection, food, garden waste etc.
Someone chucked a car battery in it, result, he got a 200 euro fine......

I live in the center of town, therefor, we don't have wheelie bins, we have underground bins.
Every thing gets chucked in them.
The local restaurants use them, and that is illegal, as they should have their own waste management contracts.

Long story short, the easy target, private house owner, little man, gets hit again..... :rage:

If I was receiving that fine then the council office would be getting a new car battery delivered unconventionally...might even gift wrap in green bin liner.

A good case for a security camera. Makes people think twice about the way they behave.

My initial thoughts exactly. Much like when I keep telling myself one of these days I will regret not having a dashcam yet.
But then I think: why the hell do I have to have my life under the constant eye of the Big Brother just for the peace of mind? I miss the old times when people were not being a 24/7 on duty bunch of twats.

Well regarding crime I can remember the old police phofits of a suspect which tended to look nothing like the criminal. Now all towns have CCTV. In our own town of Uckfield there was an outcry when they were placed. People did not want them at first. But now there was yet another outcry when it was found they had been switched off ! Luckily the local shopkeepers have their own cameras and have caught images of vandalism. In any detective show the first thing they do is get CCTV information first. Many criminals are caught this way. I have a dash cam fitted to one of my cars and it surprises me just what happens on the road. At least I have the proof . Unfortunately mine has an 18 rating as I do seem to swear quite a bit on playback.

Can he appeal the fine? That is crazy money and few people in their right mind would throw a battery in their own bin knowing they would likely get a fine. Damn.....

I dislike it when dog walkers put a bag of dog poo in my bin :p
And the the bin men won't take it :)
( the bin only goes out late at night and then I bring it in when they have been ) :)

Saw a bloke once, just changed his motor oil, parked out in the street.
Threw the old used oil into one of the underground bins.

That's naughty :p

Its easy Shelly, no name, no house number on these bins, people actually go out of there way to use them instead of their own bins at home.
Its not just my mate getting fined that started me on this rant.
Once a month there is a Saturday market down my street, the stall holders chuck all their rubbish in these bins at the end of the day.
Result? The local residents are stuck with their own rubbish until the bins get emptied.
And we pay a lot of council tax for the privilege.

Can't you lock them or put you car on top or do something so these people can't do that , it would really annoy me :p

Your street should all take it in turns to keep watch :p
And stop the people from doing this ;)
But I expect your tried all these things ;)

put you car on top

=)) All residents cars have to be off or out of the street the night before the market otherwise it will be towed away at your cost.
So that means parking on other peoples streets and these people don't like that.

O no :p
That's harsh :(
What a merry go round :(

That's what you get when you live in the center of town.
Used to get them ringing my doorbell at 6 in the morning asking me to move my neighbors car....
I just turn the doorbell off now when I know the market is on.

Holland sounds worse than the uk !

The "kerbside Kevins" over here used to just pull a wheel onto the kerb and drain there oil straight down the gullies at the roadside.:(

Tony.

Also it is my own fault for choosing to live in the center of town, used to live in the suburbs, no problems there....

But as people used to say "that the Netherlands is very clean, no litter etc" those days are long gone.
