It's simple @137699, there are two types of cyclist just like motorists and the wider public. Some are inconsiderate, obnoxious or just stupid like the chap you encountered, whereas others are sensible, considerate and pleasant. When I started this thread I had just been out for a ride and mentioned the dangerous driver who passed me far too close because there are frequent derogatory comments about cyclists on the forum . I'm a keen cyclist and like most cyclists I know, a driver as well. The two are not mutually exclusive. It does seem to me that drivers who complain about cyclists don't regularly cycle themselves and therefore have a very one sided view of road use. I have driven a lot more miles than I have cycled, all over the UK and Europe, but I've never had any problem with the majority of cyclists. Have I seen examples of bad cycling like the one mentioned by @137699? Yes, but I see bad and decidedly dangerous driving everyday.

Well you're always likely to, how many more motorists are there than cyclists?

Tony.

Correct Tony, my point was that bad drivers are a much more common and potentionally dangerous problem than cyclists.

Around here in the summer months its bikers and they fall into the same 2 types as been mentioned a lot of responsible bikers and some who think think the coast road is the TT route.
There are a couple of cycling groups around here but anytime i have seen them out in larger groups they certainly behave responsibly.
