Hi.i have a 1999 2.0 auto.6 cyl. Z3,during this covid crisis I decided to tidy up some issues with th car. I resprayed front bumper ( scuffs) 42 years since I had a spraygun in my hand but after running out a couple of lacquer runs it really is like riding a bicycle ( ie. It all comes back to you,if you can stay from the water based paint!! Which I did) also repaired cosmetic 'rust' on both side indicator panels and finished off by painting and replacing the d/ side sill ( easy enough job if you invoke patience ).I also stripped roof and repaired front metal panel which had some corrosion due to water ingress.i replaced both side tension cable's as well.niw I intend to replace the auto box filter and fluid including the front sump and would appreciate any advice on this task. I gave done same on my Audi A6 and my daughter's golf day but never had experience of same on a Z3,many thanks Alex

Have a look at this one Alex, it doesn't come with new bolts for the pan but I don't consider that totally necessary if I'm honest. You can contact them with your vehicle details to be sure it is the correct one for your car.

Did you remove front sump when you changed fluid Tony, the gasket for this sump is no longer available from BMW.( The reason I'm asking you is I am not sure how much fluid is necessary for complete refill.I used DIRKO to seal the small sump.a good friend who owns an engineering business ( rebores, complete engine rebuilds etc) would use nothing else.i will download some photos of the sump replacement.( NB. It is essential that both sumps are cleaned and the magnet in the large sump is also cleaned.personally I found the magnet completely covered so its attraction capabilities might be reduced by this.

NB. The DIRKO is continuous along the outer compression.

Hi Alex, I only changed the large pan gasket and filter. The magnet in mine had done it's job, there were no large bits of metal but it had a good coating of "bits". If I recall right I used between 6-7 litres of oil/fluid. I used a large syringe which held approx. 1Ltr.

Tony.
