Cruise control - what do I need for an M52 2.0

Great thread Gaz, how hard/easy is the cruise control mod, can't find BrianH article, love the style 108s, I'm looking for a set.

Here you go @Sean d . The M54 6 is a flyby wire throttle and this is all you need . It can be fitted to others but needs a few more bits.

What that means is there isn't a mechanical connection (cable) between your throttle pedal and the inlet on the engine Sean. "Fly by wire" first used in F1 as far as I'm aware?

The 2.0 litre is the M52 engine, the fly by wire started with the M54. If you look, you should find you have a throttle cable.

I'm aware of that mate, but the car is in the garage and its chucking it down with rain, its also very dark and I'm sat in a nice warm lounge , just wondered how I find out without getting my ass off the sofa, it has ASC so I am assuming its fly by wire but what are all these M numbers.

M52 or M54 is the type of engine in your car if it's the same as my 2000 2.0 Z3 mate. If you've got a print out from the vin decoder it will tell you which engine is in your car?
