After reading the great M54 Cruise Control - Retrofit by Brian H I want to do the same. I am having a problem getting the parts if anyone has any tips for sourcing them I would be very interested. The parts required are
1 x Interface 65.71.8.380.054
1 x Switch 61.31.8.360.926
1 x Knob 61.31.1.390.968

This is my first post after joining so if I have posted in the wrong place I am sorry and will of course move it

Thanks for any help

Ben

I believe that some are cable and some are fly by wire, apparently the cable upgrade is more difficult, could anyone please elaborate as I would like to do this mod as well.

Just the 2 parts ??? thanks for that pal, better get looking
you will need the 3rd part. It is the button/'knob' on the end of the stalk. It is sold as a separate part because it it printed with the legend in different languages. Getting a second hand stalk should come with the knob bit.

I might recall wrong, but when I had cruise (speed hold!) retrofitted to my 2001 MC , perhaps 10 years ago now, it just required the column switch which had the wires to plug into the loom. The bit of cowling to be removed was clearly marked. The "brain" bit is already there.

It's a very different proposition if the car is not "fly by wire". I also had cruise retrofitted to a 1997 E36 last year (not plug and play), sourced parts from EBay and had the seller fit it, about £150 all up. About 2 hours work for someone who has done it before. Well worth doing.:)

When I did mine I sourced the stalk but could not get the interface.
I got one from BMW in the end, about £60 IIRC. Very easy to fit following @Brian H instructions. In fact it took longer to remove the trim than to connect it all up. Best of luck:thumbsup:

Thanks for all the reply's. I have now bought the stalk from ebay, came from an E36 but looks identical to the one in the picture of article by Brian H. https://zroadster.org/threads/m54-cruise-control-retrofit.1844/ .Its coming from USA so will be a while. Just need the interface now which I guess is specific to the Z3 so will probably have to buy new, will check out Sopers (thanks MWPE) I guess that is Soper of Lincon, do I have to provide anything to get the discount ?. I already have the trims removed so looking forward to installing the bits
Thanks again

I tried Sopers for an air filter frame recently. Reasonable price quoted but they wouldn't post, so no use to me.
