Looking on Jack Smith comments page it says he only does MX5 and S2000 cars now. Anyone know if this is true?
He doesn't maintain his Facebook page. He doesn't need to. It's all word of mouth.

I think you need to do a search on the forum for Jack Smith and see all the posts.

I went to Mussels in Godalming because he’s only 30 mins away from me. He can fit it but hasn’t the screen and beeding. I’d looked at Jack Smith but recent comments (from 2018) said he only does MX5 and S2000 - hence my query.

To my mind, if your OEM hood is in good condition, I would have the rear screen replaced with an zipped OEM one. A competent trimmer will be able to do this without difficulty.

That’s not actually always true. Jack Smith won’t touch zipped in screen replacement jobs as he says they are too much agro.

There’s various issues that can affect the viability of the job like rotten stitching on the car side of the window and frayed zip starters.

An OEM screen with fitting is also the same price as a new roof. And a supply and fit non-OEM window can cost up to £250. Soft Tops in Coventry are about £150 but will charge up to £250 if the stitching is gone.

I’d encourage the OP to have a look at old threads as all the issues are covered there in detail that will help make a decision.

I’d probably suggest Soft Tops in Coventry.

You won’t be able to change only the beading as it’s integral to the window.

We had our done here a few years back now and he will drop you off at the Coventry Motor Museum (free) whilst he does the screen.

edit

he re-stitched where it was failing and cleaned the roof to re establish the waterproofing qualities.

Jack Smith will charge you £330 for an all new roof! Canvas, screen & beading :)

The beading is part of the screen. A new screen will cost £150-£250 depending on where you go. The smart money, if you can run to it, is to have the new roof.
Sounds very cheap !
