Just a thought, your only just over the bridge from Grimsby, why not have a chat with Sean. His work is top shelf.
I have yet to find a body shop that will paint all colours edge to edge
It all depends where the damage is on the panel, more often then not it is possible to paint the damaged panel only as there will be room to blow the colour away over the panel, however should the damage be on the very edge of a panel there is not a body shop in the world that will guarantee a colour match on all colours as every mixing scheme differs and some colours have 5-6 field variants of various shades and colours are being updated continuously.I had my Z4M bonnet sprayed after some kids threw eggs at it. It chipped the paint off down to the primer. I went to the bodyshop and said is it better to just do a touch up, because i would rather see that, than a difference in paint shades.
They said "we will paint the bonnet and you wont be able to tell". £500 it cost, they just did the bonnet .....and I could not tell...at all.
I have had a couple of body shops say that to me over different things, and others that claim they have to blend it in, "the paints weathered" etc etc.
To me that means they expect me to accept a poor match so I walk away
We have built up our own colour library, every time we paint a new colour we do a spray out card and this gets saved for future referenceIt all depends where the damage is on the panel, more often then not it is possible to paint the damaged panel only as there will be room to blow the colour away over the panel, however should the damage be on the very edge of a panel there is not a body shop in the world that will guarantee a colour match on all colours as every mixing scheme differs and some colours have 5-6 field variants of various shades and colours are being updated continuously.
Just saying my experience.there is not a body shop in the world that will guarantee a colour match on all colours as every mixing scheme differs and some colours have 5-6 field variants of various shades and colours are being updated continuously.
This probably doesn't mean a thing to you since I'm on the other side of the pond but I needed my bonnet resprayed because of the clear coat starting to peel. A friend who was a mechanic sent me to a spray shop he said did good work and they quoted me $800.00. I thought that was a bit high since there was no damage to repair so I went to a national spray shop that's locally owned and they came in at $400.00. I had never heard anything bad being said about them and they had a good guarantee on their work so I had them do it. They did a super job. Couldn't have been more pleased.....................FrankieI see what you mean..how great does / will that look. I might post Sean and just ask..he can always say no.
