Bought a very nice white Rioja on the way home from work, just because its Friday you understand  dumped it in the fridge and went and did a bit of gardening. Anyway came in about 20 minutes ago and got said bottle out of the fridge only to discover it had a cork! I had to sit down and think if I still had a corkscrew, much searching through many draws and hey presto found one. Thought I was going to have to go to the shed and get the drill =))

Its been a while since I needed to remove a cork from a bottle of wine, not sure its going to catch on to be honest;);)

I saw a video recently of a guy opening a wine bottle with a shoe. I kid you not.
Unwrap the foil.
Put the bottle in the back at the heel of your shoe (a mans shoe probably works better).
Hold the bottle in place and hit the heel against a wall. The cork magically works its way out until you can pull it.
No good for wine with a sediment, but then, in an emergency!

Yeh I saw that too, but knowing luck I'd hit the bottle out of my hand :D Way to risky.

Having just the one bottle makes it risky. Buy a whole case or two. You know it makes sense

Student days, no got a cork screw, place a bunched up tea towel against a wall and bash the sh*** out of the bottle.
This is called shaken, not stirred....;)

You bunch of wimps =)) a proper bloke would just bite the neck off the bottle =))

That's the way to do it @Mint

Bet Pauline's a bit nervous when you nibble her neck =))

Nice one @Mint, how the hell did you manage to do that?
Just getting the cork out with a corkscrew, like I've done hundreds of times and the neck just snapped off the bottle as per the photo. Only a bit wasted though as I strained what was left in the bottle and we drank it. No drama;)
