compressor number 2 has died !!!!!

So, I bought a 2nd had wolf compressor a few months ago locally it was cheap... been using it a few months and its been great i suspect its probably well past its sell by date but for some reason its not building pressure the pump is running and will not cut out and its only getting to about 30psi...?

any ideas it seems to be hissing at the top of the cylinder... could it be the head needs taking off and reseating.. only other thing i thinking is piston rings.. no expert on compressors by any means so anyone offer some advice..

Could well be the head gaskets Al. Have you checked the head bolts for tightness? If it's only building 30 psi it won't reach the cut out pressure on the pressure switch which will probably be set at around 150 psi.

its just constanlty running and not building any pressure..have disconnected all the external hoses.. i have took covers off yesterday and going to fetch it down to the workshop in the morning and try tightening the head bolts... just looked at a few youtube clips on possible problems with the reeds and the head gasket...

i keep you informed on what i find..

Been looking for a cheap 25L compressor myself, but the ones on eBay seemed to be to far away and collect only. :(
 
I have one on the Bay of E at the moment. £36 is the highest bidder at the moment. I've put local collection as I don't want the hassle of delivering it.

Delivery is always an option. I've had a guy from Sweden ask about a local collection item (a coolant heater). I explained that I'd have to send it as two packages, and he's placed a bid.

If you see local collection only, you should send a message to the seller, you might be pleased with the reply.
 
theres normally loads on facebook marketplace just put a search on and one will turn up eventually... I assume most of these cheap compressors are generic pump, motor, and air receivers, and the gaskets can be bought too.. i made one but ought really get a proper wolf one.. if they are avaiable...
