Hi all.,..in the process of getting a 2000 z3 back up and going after sitting for 4 years, after doing the front end, brakes, and lots of other stuff, I now need to replace all the brake piping. Is anyone aware of a complete kit, looking on line, I'm having trouble finding one. If anyone has any information on this, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks .
Tom

I had mine replaced a few years ago and the mechanic used the appropriate copper pipe matching width and simply followed the same shape as the old one once it was off my car. Basically, the old acted as a template for the new replacement.

I think you may find that you will need a roll of brake tubing, a flaring tool and a pipe bender.
Then remove the existing ones carefully to use as patterns.

That's what I think I'll have to do. Thanks. It seems that there are no pre- formed kits.

Also the easy way of removing the old pipes is to cut the pipes right next to the unions and then you can use a 6 point socket and ratchet on the union. Much quicker and less skinned knuckles. Just make note of where it came from for when you make the new pipe.

Tony.

A pre-photo on your mobile will help. As reference.

As has been said you will need copper piping a brake pipe flaring kit and pipe ends then its diy time.

Pre formed steel pipe will be available from the main dealer but most of the time becomes really difficult to fit them as when a car is built brake pipes are fitted quite early on and as such not a lot of components in the way not the case in a complete vehicle.

Pipes can be joined to original as well

The rear brake pipes have to be replaced in sections. Otherwise the rear axle has to be dropped out.

On a DSC facelift car at least you can only replace one front run in it's entirety too.

Both for the same reason. As Steve says the brake pipes seem to be just about the first part fitted to the bodyshell and end up with all sorts in the way.
