I use it simply because it's a 1.9L 4 banger and nothing else in my garage beats the M44 in fuel economy. Fresh air is a plus :);)

Why not commute in a Z3?
It is after all just a two seater BMW 3 Series ....

It is my daily driver year around. I fit the hardtop from may to October. If you want to keep it neat and tidy buy a second one and don't drive that one

I commute 140 miles a day in mine (round trip). Absolutely fine - I don't feel the slightest bit stressed or uncomfortable. Also - that commute, I did that in reverse for a while in an F-reg Mini Flame. I did Sheffield to Milton Keynes - you get used to it.

I would invest in a bluetooth-capable head unit so you can play your phone's music, but also look at your local library's web site. Many will also allow you to check out free audiobooks - well worth doing if you travel a lot. Podcasts are a boon as well.

Quick edit: I'll add that all that applies after I'd had the driver's seat bushes fixed so the chair didn't slide. Was a little disconcerting before that, so if that's a problem with yours - get that fix done first.

...and edit 2: thinking about it, I actually did that commute in a old S reg Leyland Mini 1000 as well. Now there's a car you knew you were driving.

They were made for everyday use when new.

For daily use the wind noise can irritate if you are used to a normal car. I’ve found that a budget set of Bluetooth headphones (earbud type) with noise cancelling really helps kill them wind noise/road roar and you can still hear normal sounds, engine radio etc but not that tiring wind/road noise as much.
