I am starting to look for a new clutch. Would like perfection but that will never happen.
Single mass flywheel.
Bit stronger then stock so it will take second gear launches.
Free and will install itself in the car.

I have a late 98 2.8 with the dual vanos. Understand the clutch is different then the earlier 2.8. Does anyone know what the difference actually is? And what would people recommend. I am sure this has been gone over several times.

I'm not aware of any differences between the 2.8's thats not saying theres not.

Although I have changed clutches on both types and found them the same both duel mass.

I have just converted the duel mass to a single mass with a racing flywheel so if you wait a few weeks I can report back what its like. This is on a M52TUB28 so the same as yours.

See photo.

Real OEM lists two different part numbers changing in 9/98. Not sure if the input splines or something changed.

Im not worried about gear noise at idle or anything. Used to that from converting big diesels over. What clutch did you use? I will be interested to hear how it goes.

I am not in any hurry and this will probably be this summer.
