Hi all, and thanks to Lee, Well I took the cover off the diff this morning, dont you just love the smell.if diff oil.
Greeted by the attached. I guess it should be part of the diff and not floating at the bottom of the diff case.
On the look out for a diff now. and some fun fitting it.
So once again to everyone who sent advice.

Wow thats a very rare sight with our diffs, must of been caused from the impact. You shouldnt have any issues finding a replacment, it's likely an open diff so will be quite cheap to replace. Just make sure it has the same ratio.

This was the replacement diff Lee, in hindsight i should have bought a diff cover for the original but live and learn.
