Well with these aims to bring the UK carbon footprint down I decided to give it some serious thought and immediately solved the problem. We need a new law making illegal to own or possess any vehicle for which the keeper cannot provide off street parking. This will inevitably greatly reduce the number of vehicles on the roads thereby reducing emissions both from vehicles in use and in their manufacture.
Imagine, roads without cars parked down the side and worse both sides. I have a dreadful time weaving in and out. Plus, without all the parked cars it will be so much easier on wet days to swerve into the gutter and splash pedestrians.
Well, surely it's just win win.

That would be lovely :p
But don’t think many people with agree with it :)

That's sounds about right for something that the government would try to bring out
Another 'rich mans tax' where you only have a car if priveliged enough to have a big enough house to have a drive or garage.
Disgruntled response from someone whose 2 zeds sit in the street so I have to say from a personal perspective I really wouldn't agree with that in the slightest I'm afraid.

Oh...a “controversial” post*

*sits back, grabs popcorn =))

I imagine the lost revenue from taxes will be offset by huge increase in other taxation.

How about only Z3 are allowed on street parking. Z4 owners are rich enough to have valet parking anyway.
(I am in the pub writing this!!)

I would imagine that sometime in the future households will be restricted to how many cars you can park at your own house, though I would expect that to include in front of your house with street parking.

Well that's if call-a-car-sharing isn't forced upon us.

There have been many attempts at car sharing schemes yet all have failed. And as for the so-called alternative: public transport. Well, need I say more?
