The BMWCC do valuations, they did mine last year. Used it to get my insurance from Manning last year 5k mileage limit, track day cover, Euro cover, FComp - £245. Renewal just come through - £270.
Tried Classicline earlier in the week similar cover £362.
So looking further into it, got till end of month.
Pete where are the BMWCC located as I presume they would want to see it ? Geoff

BMWCC do it by post, pictures and forms as I recall.

I never got a valuation and wasnt asked for one. Told her id just bought the car for 3k
Then you most probably do not have an ‘agreed value’ just market value.

An agreed value is what will be paid out in the event of a write off- if it’s agreed at 3k then that is what you’ll get regardless of what glasses guide says.

What you paid for the car not what they will pay out unless agreed and endorsed on the policy.

BMW Car Club do valuations at a cost of £24.99 for club members and £49.98 for non-members. As Ianmc said BMWCC do it by post, pictures and forms.
Details on the Club drop down menu. Below is quote from the site which helps to define the meaning of Agreed Value.

What is an “Agreed Value”?

You may be meeting your legal requirement to insure your vehicle for road use but what happens in the event of making a claim? The insurance company will comply with the terms of the 'sleep inducing' document and if at this time you discover that the market value of your car has increased you will be checking to see if your savings could make up the difference before the search starts for a replacement vehicle of similar condition. To place this in context consider the owner of a 1990 E30 M3 Sport Evo whose car was stolen in 2007 without 'agreed value' the insurance company were only prepared to settle the claim for the amount he paid for the car a few years earlier i.e. £11,000. The trouble now is that during the 18 month of wrangles the value of this model in comparable condition had risen to £25,000! This is clearly an upset and one that we can all relate! But also one that could so easily and cheaply have been avoided by understanding how ‘these things work’ and taking the necessary steps to protect ones investment. To conclude the theft story, the car was recently found and as no settlement had taken place the car will thankfully be re-joining its rightful owner. However, the intervening period has been a thoroughly miserable time…

I wanted an agreed value as my Z3 MC had more than doubled in value in the 4 years since I had bought it. At that rate you just cannot afford to ignore getting an agreed value.

I am at present coming near to having to decide which way I am going over this,
At present I am with nfu [have been for many years, cars and houses] and have found them very good and fair in the events I have claimed.
I also like the fact I am dealing with people not a call centre.
But they will not do Agreed Value on the Z3 ,but they have on my sons Ser 1 Land Rover as that is 1952.
Their schedule says the Maximum they pay is
a) the MARKET VALUE of the car, or
b) the value shown on the SCHEDULE
whichever is less

MARKET VALUE is the amount it would cost to replace the CAR(or trailer) with one of the same make , model ,specification ,age and condition.

The difference in cost is not sufficient to entice me change.

The Classic Line offering is with an insurance company with very varying reviews.

Thanks to those that recommended A Plan.

Just got a price of £250 for the Z3, using mirrored bno claims, uptown 4k miles with breakdown and legal cover.

Cheapest insurance I've had for years, on any car.

I've been going through this for the past week

The best I've managed to get is

Smurf - £267 for 7000 miles incl. Commuting, all mods declared with Footman James

Rhubarb - £440 for 3000 miles (SDP only) all mods declared with Lancaster

Interestingly a number of insurers won't touch rhubarb due to the value and not being garaged

Fully Comp .... !!
Don't make me laugh, so was I and it was not cheap, car still got written off due to its age (96) and mainly price of a new bonnet (hood for @t-tony ) at Euro 1100 from BMW, never mind other parts also needed.
Don't kid yourselves people, you are driving a mass produced BMW roadster product.

I thought it might be helpful if I shared my latest “insurance experience” on my 2001 Z3 2.2i. I am “in between” everyday cars at present so the Z3 is getting more use than normal. Such a hardship!

My current policy (myself & spouse) is with ClassicLine £339 incl. breakdown cover and personal business use. The agreed value is a disappointing £4K.

However, as I’m going to exceed the 5,000 mile maximum before the renewal on 24 May, and as they won’t pro-rata the mileage increase £139, (next band is 12,000), I have been forced to end the current policy early, and commence a new policy from 1 May.

I decided 8,000 miles was a good estimate of my likely mileage going forward.

ClassicLine quoted £485. Footman James weren’t interested as the car isn’t 20 years old. Lancaster kept me on the phone for ages only to decide that, as I don’t have another main car at the moment, they couldn’t offer cover! Adrian Flux came in at £400. Saga don’t do classic car insurance but quoted £493. A-Plan quoted £253.76 plus £115 breakdown cover on a “cherished” car policy with 8,000 social and 2,000 business miles. Otherwise all comparable terms but no agreed value on the non classic policies.

My solution was to go with A-Plan but to add a £42 top-up which adds 25% to market value in the event of a total loss. They said they would take into account the agreed value which I have on file from Classicline. So it’s possible I could get to £5K.....

Rather than take the breakdown cover (which includes some European travel), I have taken out a separate policy with Adrian Flux at £56.

So in summary A-Plan at £296 plus Adrian Flux at £56, total £352.

I don’t think that is too bad for 10,000 miles, with my better half covered too, and freedom to drive it to a client on a sunny day!

Just got my renewal quote in from Mannings. I was pleased to see that it was £30 cheaper than last year which is good and unusual nowadays. On checking the documents though, against the question "Has the vehicle been modified.....including optional fit accessories" it says no. This was quite a surprise as Mannings sent me a form to return a year ago where you could tick box all the mods and I had declared exhaust/air filter/alloy wheels/strut brace/braided brake hoses and felt confident that I was covered. However on the phone today, there didn't seem to be any record been made of that. I've now been asked to submit the list of mods again so it can be added to my file, but I don't feel as confident in this respect as when I first took the insurance out.

I hear @Tim beard Has had this problem his mods and agreed value going missing
Sounds like they have really f***ed up and lost a lot of things from people's files
Looks like there idea to go paperless didn't work
And I also see the new Manager is some young inexperienced guy who only has a few years experience in the insurance industry so you got no hope in getting sence out of him
If Mike Briggs still works there ask for him he is very clued up and maybe able to clear things up

Adrian Flux were good for me. More unusual as it is modified/kit. Came up with £178 fully comp 5k miles kept on drive 58 clean licence.
Valued at £25k, agreed value cost extra £16 but not got around to it yet. Mirrored my 9years NCB. I also have a Daytona Spyder replica, V12 5.3 with 6 webers, came in at £178 as well.

If it's a second / pleasure use car I use Lancaster at £120 year. Though I will need to swap this over this time as the usage has now swapped back to a daily. Last year my zed only did 1700 miles ( problem at home) had another car for daily use.

My 3.0L cost £228 with Saga, yes I am an old f***. This is 4000 miles , me and the wife to drive, protected no claims and breakdown insurance. Doesn't seem too bad. The other car is sub £600 on 15000 miles business and pleasure.
