PART 1: The last project of the year got off to a good start. @Saul Hillier approached me at Vanity asking for some Zedshed help. He had everything ordered so just needed a hand with what order to fit everything. This 2.2 has been so well looked after it's just as clean on the underside as it is on the inside. Once we had removed the waxoil off the underside it revealed pristine nuts n bolts to remove, pure joy!
Order of events: 1) Remove the exhaust system
2) Removed Arch Liners both sides
3) Removed spare wheel carrier
4) Removed the prop shaft nuts
5) Removed the roll bar complete
6) Drop both swing arms from the shocks
7) Disconnect brakes lines and blank
8) Disconnect the handbrake cables from the car
9) Removed fish plates from the main beam
10) Loosen diff bolt and beam bolts ready for removal
11) Lower subframe complete to the floor
This is the typical order of events, quite a few of these happen at the same time with multiple people working on the car.
Sauls 2.2 has a full Aero body kit with looks great, also a fully sprayed up engine bay. This could very much be a show car.
Look at that engine bay!
Interior shot
A rare shot of the exhaust coming off in one.
It took us the best part of 2/12 - 3 hours to fully strip the beam down. This is a very quick tear down because of how tidy everything is.
Tidy underside
We quickly stripped down the subframe so it could be cleaned easier.
The only casualty of the day was a rusty exhaust bracket.
Saul was chomping at the bit to use his £9 lidl grit blaster so we left him to it.
Old bushes removed some new colorful bits ready to be fitted.
We ended the day with Saul removing a Microwave from his boot (not kidding) and making us all lunch round 13:30. He took my compressor with him and planned to clean up and re paint all the subframe components between now and next Saturday.
