I’m getting an annoying sound from the front of my engine as revs increase
I sprayed WD40 on the belts and that helped for a while
Is it the belt or the pulleys?

Thank you all for any advice

You dont say what engine but I had similar on my 2.2 (M54) and it was the tensioner pulleys. Easy to change too once you have removed the plastic fan/viscous coupling. Remember it's a left hand thread;)

I replaced both tensioner pulleys, one on the auxilliary belt and the other on the air con. When they were off they were both worn and grumbling.

I had the same issue on my 2000 Z3 2.0. Not difficult to do.

We had this on our Ford Focus and it turned out to be the belt for the alternator etc. had it replaced and the sound went. The sound disappeared as we picked up speed.

I have just done this, but didn't remove the fan or the cover, check which tensioner you have before ordering new parts.
