Cheap plugs, anyone?

Thanks for the heads up, good excuse to get out and get roof down.

Bargain and a big grin. Cheers

Pre 09/99 (including 2.8) cars use BKR6EK which is £7 for 4.

I'm not sure what the difference is and how interchangeable they are with later cars.

Apart from the Z3M, everything else seems to use BKR6EQUP regardless of engine size.

Well, that's my good deed done for the day, then. It's got to be a mistake on Halfords' part, but I'm not above taking advantage of it. Just have to keep an eye on the price in the near future, see when the price goes back up.

Just changed mine with the new Halford plugs. The new ones are exactly the same as the new ones which were last changed in 2008 and have done 28000 miles. They cost the previous owner £40.00. So next change 2026!

Change every 60,000 miles on the 3.0.

I did mine last year and after 14 years/55,000 miles the ones l took out looked fine.

Just picked up a set of BKR6EK and a set of BKR6EQUP instore in Swindon. No reservation - in stock.

All very clearly marked as reduced on the shelf. And I just found out I get 10% off via my company's employee's discount scheme :)

So £13.50 for 2 sets of plugs :)

I noticed the BKR6EKs (early cars) are made in France and the BKR6EQUP are made in Japan. I imagined they'd all be made in Japan.

Looks like the bargain is working over this part of the world also, €9 for four...just reserved 2 sets for collection :)

Figured out my issue - My local branch is out of stock and via the mobile site it throws a wobble when no stock. On the pc shows me availability in other stores miles away unfortunately. They don't offer postage on it either.
same in Telford... out of stock, and miles away for the next available collection. delivery not an option either

Should have said, these are the four tip type. And they definitely work.
I have it on informed opinion that four and two tip plugs are snake oil, no better than a single and there is a belief that in fact can be worse in spark performance. Stick with OEM suggested plugs they are matched to your engines ignition system and engine running modes by the vehicle manufacture (who know what they are doing) The only difference between copper, platinum and iridium tipped is longevity, no noticeable performance difference. iridium/platinum are good for +100k

Had another go via the desktop site and let me order with delivery of £2.99...

b*******, I've just ordered 12!
I used to have iridium 4 tips or something then went to stock and couldn't tell a difference really althoughnew plugs together with an oil change is always noticeable.

According to realoem BKR6EK and BKR6EQUP are the manufacturer recommended plug?

The pictures also show multi-tip.

The packaging of the plugs also state they are as per OEM.

Good to go then:thumbsup:

Put Bosch 4 tip in my 1.9 think the price was circa £30 or there about.
Used these as i thought these probably won't need changing for thousands of miles.
