Changing suspension all round

I suspect that he also has the weld on camber adjusters as the wheels son't seem to lean too much. Perhaps some spacers as well?

Yeah the coilovers range from £170-£1700 all depends on budget. around about £600 is about the right for quality. This includes the BC coilovers AP's are a little cheaper.

Hi All.
Well today i got round to fitting new rear discs and pads. ( The first time ever i have done this, I'm getting quite into to all this DIY mechanic larc !! )
I also fitted new shock mounts.
Now there is still a definite rattle coming from what sounds directly behind me so i am assuming it is the shocks.
From the image below all i have used is the new mount, the large metal washer on the new shock and a paper gasket. There were more rubber washers on the original but i havent used them.
Any ideas what i am doing wrong. I have tightened everything as much as possible!

Looking at your piccy there should be a big washer which sits between the bottom of the shock and the mounting. I had this exact issue with mine where for some reason we didn't fit one on one side at the back. Without it the shock moves about and makes a rattle. Worth checking for as I can't see a washer in your photo!

Definatley didnt come with any washers like that. Where do you think i could get some from?

I'm sure any hardware store should be able to provide something of the correct size? Not sure if there is anything super special about the washers, but perhaps @t-tony or @Lee would be able to confirm...

OK. I can take the old ones off and see if i can get anything close to it at B&Q etc.
Thanks :)

The only thing the inner ones will have is probably a larger hole in the middle. You could always ask Andy @spurs fan in a coupe to post you some from one of his babies? Some times they stick to the old shocker with rust and crud and can get thrown out with the bath water so to speak.lol

Tony.

Just so you don't get confused Gary means the washer should sit under the bolt head.

You can pick these up from Screwfix or B&Q. Long as it covers the clamping face of the bolt. Anything from mild steel and upwards will be fine.

Just to confirm This shows what order and what bits i have used.
We are talking about the washer at the bottom that isnt on the new one yes?

Whoops, my bad - and exactly why I tagged you for confirmation

Hi All.
Quick update. So i have cured the banging / knocking noise today. I put on the spacer / washer to the shocks which seems to have done the trick, so again thanks for all your advise.
I also took off the coil adjusters as they weren't doing anything and put back on the rubber mount. The car sits fractionally lower so its all good.
The only thing i have noticed, which is a little bit worrying. I took it out for a spin, and took it around a roundabout, perhaps a little more faster than i normally would, (this was for testing purposes!) and i felt a kind of .. its hard to describe. Have you ever driven a bike or car with a flat back tyre, and when you turn a corner the back end keeps going round the corner for a while as it rolls over the flat tyre? Make sense??
Well thats what the back end feels like, A bit uncomfortable to be honest, as it kind of feels for a second the back end is coming away.
Not sure if this is because the springs are softer than the originals.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, thats the shock bottoming out. @GazHyde will confirm. We tried this with his and got the same problem.

Lee

Thanks for the tag Lee :) Yeah, it really didn't ride well without the shock adjuster so we put it back in. The back end would bottom out coming off speed bumps, and it all drove better with the adjuster back in place. Think they are just too short to go in on their own.
