I need to replace the seat belt guide on the passenger side seat. I’ve removed the seat from the car and also removed the plastic shroud but have got stuck on how to remove the electrical device spanning the zip. Do I just need to prise the clear rubber looking inserts out? Thanks

Those are pins in the centre which pullout.

You may damage the fixing in the process. I’ve never been able to find the part number.

So I use an alternative to put them back.

I've removed a few of these without damage, there is a clear ring that you need to pull out around the pin, use a craft knife to ease it out, once the ring is out you can then pull the centre pin with a pair of long nose pliers, this will release the clip

Brilliant!
Thanks guys
Regarding the jammed seat height adjuster, is there a common fault which needs attention?
The motor tries to move but feels like it’s stuck?
Thx

I had the same problem with seat stuck at highest point recently.

There is a thread on a different forum that describes the fix. It’s on Bimmerforums not here so unsure whether it’s good form to post the link.

If you goggle bmw Z3 seat height stuck you should be able to find a suggested procedure. It worked for me

Freeing up the jammed height adjuster was simple enough with the seat removed from the car.
One bolt removed from the ally casting plus mole grips on the threaded rod and an adjustable spanner on the casting to free it up.
Replacing the seat belt guide is going to be much tougher as there is a metal road moulded into the seat foam preventing removal of the cover. I guess I’ll need to bond the locking washers to the back plate and slide it up the seat into position and then push the two parts together?

So while I’m waiting for the replacement seat belt guide to arrive from Mars I have another question.
The rear brakes look a bit worn out!!
Do you think this is overheating due to the handbrake binding?
I think that is just a result of poor maintainance and in deperate need of new pads and discs, the shoes will more then likely need repacing whilst your at it

I’ve needed to remove the centre console to replace a couple of switches and have discovered 3 wires which are unattached, any thoughts on where they may go. I have a 2002 2.2 car?

Yes @Gudger you can buy a ready made loom connector from BMW, they around £55 each. I'll see if I can find the part number. I bought a set a couple of years back.
