CD43 - CODE WAIT

I’ve dug out my spare Blaupunkt CD43 as it’ll be going up for sale in the next week or so.

However, when connected up it shows “CODE WAIT” in the display.

Having researched this, it normally comes on after having put the wrong code in 3 times and you have to wait 1 - 2 hours for it to clear then you can input the correct code.

However, I haven’t tried to input the code at all but the unit hasn’t been powered up for 12+ months.

I’ve tried waiting 1 - 2 hours with power to the unit but nothing. I’ve even left it overnight with a battery charger connected but still nothing.

Has anyone had this issue and found a solution? 🙏👍
 
I had a CD 43 which I inherited which didn't have a code. I got code off a site on eBay 12 months or so ago only cost a couple of quid and worked a treat. Unfortunately I haven't got the details of code supplier. I just gave them radio type and serial number, they came straight back with code. The supplier was overseas but it worked out OK for me.
 
Thanks but I already have the code; it’s trying to get the unit off the CODE WAIT screen that’s the problem. 😎👍
 
I vaguely recall that the radio has to be on the car and connected. Or else locate the ground cable and "ground" the damn thing.

I think you have to leave your key in the on mode (ignition without engine on; position II) for about 1 hour, and it will clear out.
 
As original post, I’ve left it powered up for between 1 & 2 hours and even overnight with a battery charger but to no avail.

The leaving powered up trick only seems to apply if you’ve incorrectly entered your code 3 times which I haven’t. 🤷‍♂️

Well, sorry, but I don't know what else can be done.

I've had the battery die, and also left the radio out for a while, but I think it always prompted me for the code on reconnect. I've also entered the code incorrectly on a different CD43 and that caused the "CODE WAIT" message, but it was cleared by the above hour wait…

I'm sure you know but I say it just in case. You know that most radios have two 12v inputs. One is permanent live (usually yellow) the other is live with the ignition.

Maybe both need to be powered from your battery charger. If they are both connected to + and the earth wire of the radio is connected to the earth on the charger (ie instead of the radio metalwork) then i don't think the radio will know that it's not actually in the car.

Also bear in mind that if your battery charger is just a very low amp trickel charger then it might not be enough to fully power up all functions in the cd43
