Surveying the carnage from suicidal animals during this mornings drive in the dark to Mt Cook, New Zealand.

Managed to miss all but one of the bunny plague. It switched direction back towards the car at the last moment and took out the lower grill.:rage:

One of the many Hares used the same trick to take out the fog light.:grumpy:

Thankfully the 3 Wallabies (yep, hoppers in N.Z thanks to the Ozzie Gold miners of the late 1800's) that got caught in the head lights did not know of the switch direction trick and they hopped safely off the road. They are the size of a Labrador and solidly built. Hitting one would probably kill the Z3 too.

On the way home, had a Weka (flightless bush chook) run out across the road and stop in the middle of my lane. Confirmed the operation of the ABS as I managed to drive around the bird. Looked back in the rear view mirror and the Weka was still there looking back at the car as if to say "Hey, how did you manage to miss me?"

Now have a bit of repair work to do this weekend before a three day mystery rally in Otago/Southland next weekend.

Unfortunate but it could have been far worse by the sounds of it ...Hope the repair goes with out a hitch

That sounds like a drive from hell!! :nailbiting: Glad you are ok and the Zed can be fixed

Bad luck but looks like it's a relatively easy fix:thumbsup:

You need to fit a snowplough to the front of your Zed. Problem sorted ;)

I had a dog run out on me in my Alhambra 18 months ago. I hit it at 40 mph and all I could think of was my other half who is a dog lover going ballistic that I killed one. No such worries. He was dazed for 15 mins and then back up and running, I stayed in touch with the owner and he made a full recovery. He was only a skinny little whippet too.

The car wasn't so lucky. New front bumper and plastics. £1,500 bill. His pet insurance paid up eventually after my legal support took them to court. The list of charges they came up with was incredible and went well beyond failing to control a dog on a lead etc.

That sucks, mate...sorry about that.
You might want to consider an upgrade for your Mora red

Sounds like real obstacle courses on NZ roads!

Have to cope with badgers and deer plus the occasional fox. Thankfully never hit any but the bunny population hasn't fared so well though.
Amazing how many flying birds you hit too. :(

A mate of my dad had a horse jump the fence of a field on to the top of his car.

Years ago my dad was driving into a village and hit a dog, he went to the Police station (when they still had those in those days) to report it and it turned out to be the Policeman's dog......!!
