Went home to Cardiff this weekend. God I hate it there. In the Rumney/ St Mellons area where my mother lives its speed humps every 100m. What the Fcukl! I would not have the Zed long living there. Horrible, good job I left in 81! My problem I´m used to German roads which are smooth and fast.

Learnt to drive HGV2 in Cardiff in 1985 :arghh: If you can drive a wagon in Cardiff Pakistan would be a doddle :D
 
German roads smooth and fast? I remember a hell of a lot of what they call pave in some places, pretty much cobble-stones. That was in the seventies, mind, maybe things have changed since then:). Used to ride motorbikes then, didn't make life easy.

You wonder why people buy 4x4s in the city! Go to Cardiff!
 
Ok in Germany you have cobbles. But these are usually in areas where only 30 to 50 kmh are allowed. But are also generally smooth, not huge humps that busses can straddle but cars jump over.
 
This is how they lay brick roads these days in the Netherlands, saves loads of time and man hours.
They have just done the pavement on both sides of my street by hand, looks great, red bricks, but not so great when the vibrating plates they use to bed them in wake you up at 06.00 hrs.....:mad:

 
You want to try driving down the Highway from Hell in Belgium. We were took on it last year on the Euro Trip. All those that went now wear dentures as you end up loosing all your teeth
