We should all pay something towards the roads as all vehicles use them.
Perhaps a fairer way would be to base the amount on the kerb weight of the vehicle. Say vehicles under 1000kg as the lowest band then go up in increments of 200kg ? Since the heavier the vehicle the more potential damage would be done ? Couple that with fuel duty and jobs a carrot

Minimum price should be say £50 , then as above every 200 kg say an increase of £20 or £30 - caters for small run arounds and the big ones too.

That's how it is done over here and has been done for years and also depends on what fuel you run on and which part of the country you live, due to the amount of cars on the road in that area.

Oh yeah, Winnipeg is know as the pothole centre of the world!! They put the patches in and the cold pops them out before the third car drives over it! JIM
There is one mega pot hole on my way to work Jim, I don't know if Steve noticed it this afternoon, it's just past a set of traffic lights. It is easily 3" deep and to miss it on the right side you have to drive on the white line (which I do to avoid damage to my O/S wheels), if you try to miss it on the left side then you put yourself in line with several more on that side of the road. It has been filled several times already this winter but the frosts just break up the filling which falls out and you're back to square one!

Three inches deep is shallow compared to some here @t-tony and with the crazy warm freeze we've gone through so far this winter it's even worse than normal. I have to go into Winnipeg next week so will try to get some pics of real potholes. I once hit one that was underwater big enough that when I hit it slowly it bent my control arms and totally screwed up my front end!! JIM
