I am a fan of this program normally, but for me I felt a little let down by the content. Considering the hype it’s been given about a 7 day restoration well there was very little content of the restoration.
I got the feeling it was trying to imitate top gear we only need a star in a car. I hope we don’t lose this program to crap. I mean who wanted to see Ross Kemp out on a Sunday drive in an old jag having a conversation about what. I will give it next week see what happens but if it’s more of the same my tea shirt I got for Christmas will go in bin.

My favourite program. Is this a new series I've not spotted? I subscribed to National Geographic just for it.

It sounds like a change of format? I guess they are trying to freshen things up and inevitably gravitate to the entertainment end of things rather than the spanner end.

Actually, since starting to type I read this article:

http://thefancarpet.com/movie_news/...rt-special-car-s-o-s-special-7-day-challenge/

Sounds like a headline grabbing 1-off special to launch a new series proper.

I like Car SOS but lets be honest its a bit daft at times with Tim Shaw's antics in blagging parts, somewhat childish and absolutely unbelievable at times, I'd be happy to see that sot of nonsense dropped off the show TBH.

The new Wheeler Dealers with Ant replacing Ed is very enjoyable. Ant rebuilds most things he can and explains everything in so much detail, almost feels like it needs to be a 2 hour show :)

I agree Lee, the thing that continues to spoil WD is Mike Brewer.

Tony

Agree car SOS has gone the way of more bull and less restoration. Some of the American ones are better. I quite loke the one where theybuild ratrods, Welderup with steve darnell forgotten name of the show. Fantomworks is fairly good as well.

I actually like the pranking. It would be a bit dry otherwise. But then I like stupid stuff. If you want to know how stupid then look for "Spencer Jones Live at the Apollo" on YouTube.

But I do think in some shows there's some big gaps in explaining the restoration.

I like Ant better than Ed, i think he gets stuck in more and has a go at fixing most things. Ed just sent it away

The work they do on the cars is amazing, we saw a selection of them on show at Gaydon at the BMW Festival last year. It's a shame they don't go into more detail showing the restorations and how they do them. That said they do use a lot of new parts. The series on Monday nights at the moment always has a Z3M in the backgound, one of them must own it.

I prefer Wheeler Dealers with Ant now, he is great at what he does and knows his stuff. Not much he can't do and doesn't buy parts when they are not needed, he quite often fabricates his own. I also like Welderup, they make some awesome ratrods and Fast and Loud also do some great cars. I enjoy watching all the car shows that do any sort of restoration.

I like Ant on WD too. He filled Edd’s boots well. It’s when Mike shakes hands I want to punch the tele.
Of the US shows I agree Vegas Rat Rods to be a fave. My current like is B*tchin Rides with Kindig. The work they do gives a wicked end result. For entertainment regarding the way alternative minds and accents go I like Bad Chad Hiltz too. Not keen on the cars produced though.

For tech content of course I subscribe to Skid Factory, MCM and Project Binky. Right back to car shows I go

Can't stand "Classic Car Rescue". I think I've watched it three or 4 times and each time one of the pair drops a boll**K and the other tw@ has a tissy fit. The bald guy, who constantly rants and shouts was supposedly a Kray's associate, but then again I don't know of any Londoner over the age of 60 that doesn't claim some sort of association with them. I'd rather watch Kevin and Tyrone in Corries garage than watch this load of sh1te again.

Now that programme is a pile of sh***! Them 2 really are clowns.

Jess Robson (Dakar Yellow Z M Coupe) on Z3 M Coupe site put the following post up which I've quoted below:-

"My mates 62 TR4 is on soon, 28 Feb on National Geographic. He lives close to Bruntingthorpe where they filmed the show and had no idea what was going on as his lads had kept everything secret and Kell thinking he was on the way to a track day. The car had been in a barn for many years and was rotten. I recently visited him and the car is immaculate, they left as much of it original as possible but still a ground up restoration. There is a good scene of Kell sat in his car stroking the wheel looking totally overwhelmed, good show."

Sounds as though it will be a good one to watch, first time I've hear of somebody actually knowing a person who was the subject of show. Also shows that they do keep the whole think secret until the reveal.

Guys what a great post it would be fantastic if we put together a list of the best car restoration shows or car shows to watch. I knew a few of the ones you mentioned above but not all - there are so many now that it's difficult to keep track

This is a great post but has anyone seen Overhaulin yes its American but the rebuilds are fantastic

I remember when Chip Foose worked for Boyd Coddington. Pimp my Ride was a good one too.

Tony.
