Car jack/lifts thoughts?

I did look at that kind of tilting lift. A few forum member have them. In the end though I went for this

Was about 1200 quid.

Mine was £1,300.

Pic. here later.

Saw this and thought it could be really useful anyone had any experience with them? Or can recommend ?

I don't like the look of that, it doesn't look very safe to me. Only 1500kg max weight which is right on the limit for even a small car like the Z3. The sill plates look too short, so it looks like the car could 'rock'. Doesn't look very sturdy and is manual, so will be hard work.
There are lots of car lifts around these days at fairly reasonable costs. I would look elsewhere if it were me.
I am seriously considering getting a lift but still not sure which to go for, if any.

@t-tony and myself have this type of scissor lift copes well with Z3 and Z4’s as well as other family cars. You do need a 30Ampcircuit to run it from.

Mine is 12v, though.
Does it run OK off a standard car battery?
I only have a 16 amp 230v supply in my garage but I do have a spare 80ah car battery in good nick (and multiple chargers).

I would like one similar to the quick-jack type but want to be able to leave it on the floor and drive the car over it. I have heard they are heavy and awkward to move around.

My Z3 is on one of these at the moment. I use blocks under the wheels and a lot of weight in the boot. The weight in the boot is needed to stop the car being nose heavy.

All sounds a bit dangerous to me. So are the sill lifting plates a bit short then?

It does, but you really want to run it off a car, as it draws about 50A, and you can knacker batteries if you draw that sort of current continuously.

I use a leisure battery and usually jump it with the car as well.

The best thing about it is that it is portable. This was me using it at work...
