A very sad day , but what a life , 100 years old , raise £33,000,000 for NHS , knighted by Queen , number 1 record , yes sad day but what an inspiration RIP
Too true I hope he can inspire a less selfish outlook on life that many people seem to have these days. Sir Tom’s family should be incredibly proud of him, I am simply as an Englishman. He was a proper Hero and Gentleman. R.I.P. Sir Tom.
A very sad day indeed. When you see what he achieved since last April, never mind his military service etc, he really was a true inspiration to the nation.
The head of the NHS charity said that with Gift Aid the total raised was a staggering amount just short of £40 million.
Condolences to all his family & friends.
RIP to Captain Tom
I see he was on Blankety Blank with Sir Terrance of Wogan, and won the all important Blankety Blank cheque book and pen.
Have to say I feel very inadequate comparing my life to his, what a hero, and when last year he said “But things will get better and next year we’ll be all right.” ...it tugged at the heart strings and reminded me of my Grandad.
